Feeling--all right

The snow has melted--(yay!)--to my pleasant surprise, but as Mom said...it'll be back. This 50° F weather is a temporary reprieve from Old Man Winter's harsher and much less-liked freezing temperatures.

My Powerful, Personal Songs List was also hit, I discovered, by my unthinking deletion error back in October. If I wasn't keeping a copy of it on my hard drive to add to as needed or as inspiration strikes, it would have been another hard casualty amongst my 2007 archives I would have had to deal with. As it is, thanks to my hard drive copy, the blow has been softened considerably as I've only lost three songs from the list. I'll have to add them again, of course, which I'm not looking forward to doing. I mean, I already added them once, with my thoughts and feelings and felt they nicely summed up the songs; these second entries will be different because I cannot remember what I said or felt or thought when I wrote about the songs the first time. I'm afraid they'll be pale imitations of the first entries I had. Even so, they are songs that have moved me or impacted my life enough that I feel they still belong on the list.

Anyway, here's what I wrote to introduce the list back in April of 2007:

Gwen had a good idea a lil while back: "listing the songs that have the power to uplift, comfort, and transport me to places of memory that I had consciously forgotten." Ever since I read that entry, I've been thinking. And one of the suggestions for journal entries in one of the two books a friend gave me on keeping a journal you love, is posting a favorite poem or song and then writing a poem or song, or whatever that particular poem or song inspires. This could make for very cathartic and healing writing, I'm thinking, providing moments of self-rediscovery and wonderment...which I love.

I love many, many songs, and I could probably list and write about why I love them all, but...here I'm going to be discriminate. I'm only going to list the songs that have left a powerful and indelible impression on me, whether they're sad or sober, funny and upbeat or soothing, or just releasing stress.
